I cleaned my washing machine the other day and I’m so proud I have to post about it, ha ha! I got a “recipe” from www.recipezaar.com/63666. Remember DO NOT mix vinegar and bleach! When the machine was full of hot water and bleach I donned my rubber gloves and got an old rag and scrubbed around the rim of the machine and in the fabric softener container. Every time I open it up now I smile. I am posting the recipe here too. Good luck!
Needed: 1 qt. bleach and 1 qt. vinegar (DO NOT MIX)
- Fill your washer with hot water.
- Add 1 qt of chlorine bleach (no detergent please!).
- Run the washer through the longest wash cycle.
- When the washer is still wet- this should be immediately after the bleach cycle- add 1 qt of white vinegar and run the washer through the same cycle again refilling the tub with hot water.
- This will clean out soap scum and mineral deposits from the spin basket and also from the hoses.
